It's Father's Day Weekend!!

It's Father's Day weekend and it's time to start celebrating all the great dads out there! We have a special treat to kick off the weekend, a serenade of "Thanks for Being My Dad"!

I learned this song as a young girl and now I've passed it down to my own children. I actually taught it to my daughter's class today! So spread the love and pass it along to all the awesome dads in your life.

Welcome to the Brooke Zone.....Enjoy!

Good Beginnings Never End.....Pre-K & Kindergarten Families

Doesn't my little guy look so handsome! This pictures was taken moments after The Milestone School's 30th Annual Recital. I can't believe that he's moving on from the 3 year old nursery class to being one of the oldest kids in the lower school in the fall. Where has the time gone! While we celebrate his success (phonics sounds, counting, etc.) we're focused on how to help him retain everything over the summer, so he's ready for Pre-K in September.

So if your like me and your child will be entering Pre-K or Kindergarten this fall you won't want to miss this teleconference (don't you just love technology:)). Our friends at RIISE: Resources in Independenct School Education will host:

"A Conversation About Beginnings--Beyond Nursery School"

Tuesday, June 15, 7:30pm – 8:30pm.

Join me on this teleconference (you must RSVP to get call details) to gain a fresh perspective on the early primary years. The discussion will be led by Jonina Herter, Director of the Early Childhood Programming at Riverdale Country School in NY, who has over 20 years of experience developing children in the classroom. She will answer questions and share her thoughts on what to expect and the great ways you can acheive success by partnering with your school!

Set Your DVR's Kids and Race: Re-airing June 10th

For those of you that may have missed the 4 part series on CNN's AC 360 a few weeks ago, Kids and Race will be re-airing in it's entirety on June 10th. Let this be your advanced notification to set your DVR's.
I've had numerous discussions with other parents and educators about this subject and the overwhelming verdict is there is a dire need for open dialogue with parents and teachers of all races to help them speak to their children about race.
